What about my pork products? I haven’t used any contaminated feed.

The recall of ALL pork and bacon products was taken as a precautionary measure. In the next few days, product will be released on to the market if it can be shown that the pork comes from pigs that weren’t fed the contaminated feed. This will be done on a positive release basis with inspectors verifying the safety of the pigs before it is released.

Who should I contact about having my product released?

Your regular DAFF / LA veterinary inspector (or EHO in some cases) will be will be verifying the safety of the pigs before releasing them back onto the market. You should contact your inspector for further information.

What about organic pig meat and products?

The recall affects all pork and bacon products, including organic. This will also be released by inspectors once it’s verified that it is safe.

What should I do with any products?

You should store the product until you have contacted the relevant agency i.e. your veterinary inspector or your environmental health officer.
