Diseases of Animals Act 1966 (Control of Salmonella in Ducks) Order 2010 (S.I. No. 565 of 2010)
Summary: The Department of Agriculture, Food and Marine have published the Diseases of Animals Act 1966 (Control of Salmonella in Ducks) Order 2010 (S.I. No. 565 of 2010) which requires that a person keeping ducks be registered in accordance with the Diseases of Animals Act 1966 (Registration of Poultry Premises) Order 2008 (S.I. No. 42 of 2008). The owner or person in charge of ducks whose eggs are sold must develop and put in place a written programme for the control of salmonella. The SI prohibits a person from selling eggs from a flock where Salmonellosis has been found.

Summary: These S.I.s, published by the Department of Health and Children, give effect to Directive 2009/163/EU which amends Directive 94/35/EC with regard to neotame and to Commission Directive 2010/37/EU which amends Directive 2008/60/EC with regard to laying down specific purity criteria for neotame.
Neotame is a highly intense sweetener with a sweetness potency ranging from 7,000 to 13,000 times that of sucrose. It may be used as a replacement for sucrose or other sweeteners in a broad range of food products and can be used alone or with other sweeteners. In addition, neotame can modify the flavour of foods and beverages. Directive 2009/163/EU permits the use of neotame in the same food applications as the other currently permitted intense sweeteners and it is assigned an E number, namely E 961.
Bivalve molluscs echinoderms, tunicates and marine gastropods
Commission Decision 210/725/EU (OJL312, p45, 27/11/2010) of 26 November 2010 amending Annex I to Decision 2006/766/EC as regards the title and the entry for Chile in the list of third countries from which imports of live, frozen or processed bivalve molluscs, echinoderms, tunicates and marine gastropods for human consumption are permitted
Summary: Chile is currently included in the list in Annex I to Decision 2006/766/EC as a third country from which imports of bivalve molluscs, echinoderms, tunicates and marine gastropods intended for human consumption are permitted, but such imports are restricted to frozen or processed products. This Decision permits the import into the EU of chilled and eviscerated bivalve molluscs belonging to the family of Pectinidae wild or harvested in class A production areas in Chile.
Official controls on imports of certain feed and food of non-animal origin
Commission Regulation (EU) No 1099/2010 (OJ L312, p9, 27/11/2010) of 26 November 2010 amending Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 669/2009 implementing Regulation (EC) No 882/2004 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the increased level of official controls on imports of certain feed and food of non-animal origin
Summary: This amends Annex 1 to Regulation (EC) No 669/2009 by decreasing the control frequency of those commodities for which EU information sources shows an overall improvement of compliance with the relevant EU legislation and for which the current level of official control is no longer justified, and by increasing the control frequency of other commodities for which EU information have shown a higher degree of non-compliance with the relevant EU legislation that warrants the increase of the level of official controls.

Summary: This Decision authorises the use of ferrous ammonium phosphate as a novel food ingredient. It may be used as a source of iron as specified in the Annex to the Decision. It should be labelled as ‘ferrous ammonium phosphate’.
