Since 20th July 2016 Directive 2009/39/EC (PARNUTs) was repealed by Regulation (EU) No 609/2013 of 12 June 2013 on food intended for infants and young children, food for special medical purposes, and total diet replacement for weight control.
The Foods for Specific Groups (FSGs) Regulation abolishes the concept of dietetic foods and provides for a new framework establishing general provisions for the following limited number of well-established and defined categories of food that are considered as essential for certain vulnerable groups of the population:
- Infant formula and follow-on formula
- Processed cereal based food and baby food
- Food for special medical purposes
- Total diet replacement for weight control
