Tips for Learning
In traditional classroom training, the facilitator/trainer controls the learning environment, keeps the training on schedule and creates discussion and checks that key learning points have been understood. Online learning requires learners to take a more active role in managing the learning process.
Outlined below are some generally accepted tips to help you when accessing materials online.

Objectives - think about what you want to get out of the online course and note down a few key learning objectives along with any actions that you would like to apply after completing the course.
Notes - some courses will come with course notes as attachments that can be printed off and can be used as a reference documents afterwards or you may wish to make some notes of your own.
Links - Many of the courses will provide additional links and attachments on a particular subject. You can choose to avail of the extra information and reading materials.
Interruptions - Try and prevent any interruptions when you are learning online. Set the designated time aside to complete a course or view material, you may want to put phone on voice mail and if necessary turn off your emails. Some courses may use video or sound and narration so use headphones to listen to the information in these courses.
Network - The online programmes are designed so you complete them on your own; at a time that suits you. You may choose to review them, or aspects of them again with colleagues. As the majority of materials will be in bite sized modules they can be viewed in short sessions and do not always have to be completed in isolation.
