AGENDA ITEMS
1. Minutes and Matters Arising
Some amendments were suggested to the minutes 1 st April 2004 and were subsequently agreed.
Noted: Marie Gillooly will replace John Hanily as member of the HACCP SC and attend future meetings representing the WHB
Simplified catering guide
There was a discussion on the adaptation of The Northern Ireland Guide to the Irish situation versus developing a completely new guide
Noted: It was agreed that the Northern Ireland guide was an extremely user friendly document.
Agreed: The working group will focus on modifying the Northern Ireland guide to the Irish situation
Agreed: Any difficulties encountered by the working group will be referred back to the HACCP SC
Agreed: The HACCP SC will sign off on the final document
There followed a discussion on the next target group i.e. restaurants and the categorization of same
Agreed: A survey was needed to determine the possible category for the next target group
Agreed: Each health board to supply the HACCP SC with the following information:
• How many pubs are registered as restaurants?
• How many restaurants (excluding pubs) have greater than 50 seats?
• How many of those restaurants with greater than 50 seats are Asian restaurants?
Noted: Where this information is not available on file, EHOs are asked to establish it, in as far as is feasible, over the next 3 months.
2. Guidance Note 11
LOC circulated the amended document
Agreed: The content of the document was agreed and this document was signed off by the SC
3. Hotel final assessment
LOC circulated the draft results and there followed a discussion on same
Noted: LOC apologised for excluding the ECAHB data which has been mislaid
Noted: The FSAI will publish the results of the assessments on the FSAI web
Agreed: LOC will circulate the draft results including a breakdown of each health board data
4. Butcher shop document
Noted: This working group has been set-up
Noted: LOC is working on the first draft of the document for the group to review
LOC proposed putting back the target start date for butchers until the 1 st August 2004
6. FSAI Update
There was no update from the FSAI
7. Health Board update
Some health boards expressed difficulties they'd had in collating final assessment forms
Agreed: No further late assessments will be accepted
8. AOB
LOC advised she had received a call from a consultant who had encountered a number of wholesalers who didn't have a HACCP system in place
Noted: LOC advised of the HACCP strategy and advised EHO's should be contacted who will deal with such issues locally
The date for the next meeting is 9th September 2004
