AGENDA ITEMS 

1. Minutes and Matters Arising

The minutes of the last meeting were agreed without any changes being made.

2. Guidance Note on Compliance

The draft Guidance Note on Compliance was circulated to the group and there followed some discussion on the context.

Agreed:

The Guidance Note will be published as Revision 1 and may be updated at a later stage.
The Enforcement Section of the Guidance Note will be deleted; however this may be included in a later revision of the document.
LO'C to circulate a new draft of the Guidance Note to the group by Friday, 17 th May 2002 .
i. All PEHO's will then circulate the document within their respective health boards for comment and return them to LO'C.
The Guidance Note on Compliance shall be signed off at the next meeting of the Steering Committee, 11 th July 2002
 

3. FSAI Update

LOC advised the group that the HACCP Strategy had been published in the March 2002 edition of the FSAI Newsletter and had also been posted on the FSAI website.
WA advised the group that the FSAI are currently working on a Cook-Chill Guidance Note
A document was circulated to the group entitled 'Communicating food safety messages & the need for HACCP in the catering sector'. There was no comment on the document.
 

4. Health Board Update

There was a tour de table and all health boards gave details of actions they had carried out in the past regarding HACCP and all future plans. These included booklets on HACCP, information packs, surveys and questionnaires. The main areas targeted by the health boards are in the high risk category principally in mass catering establishments.

Agreed

GN to forward details of the ECAHB study on meals on wheels to LO'C.
JM to forward details of the SHB study of catering on bus tours in Kerry.
 

5. AOB

WA advised he will be organising a Catering Forum in the near future. He asked the HACCP Steering Committee if he could invite a representative from the Forum to attend Steering Committee meetings when deemed appropriate.

The date for the next meeting is 11th July 2002.
