AGENDA ITEMS
1. Minutes and Matters Arising
The minutes of the last meeting were agreed without any changes being made.
AD asked what the situation was with the Catering Forum
Noted:
AB advised invitations have been issued.
2. Guidance Note on Compliance
LO'C advised the FSAI are not yet publishing the Guidance Note on Compliance with Regulation 4.2 of the European Communities (Hygiene of Foodstuffs) Regulations 2000 (S.I. No. 165 of 2000). As this document was issued as Revision 1 the FSAI are awaiting possible feedback on the document before going to print.
3. Compliance Targets
There was a lengthy discussion on the commencement date for compliance targets and also publicity to be used.
Agreed:
1. The date for the compliance will commence on the 1 st January 2003 .Noted: There was an objection to the commencement date by JM.
2. Target Groups:
• Hotels with a functional catering capacity will be targeted. The deadline is 12 months from the 1 st January 2003 .
• Hospitals and nursing homes (both publicly and privately owned). The deadline is 18 months from the 1 st January 2003 .
Noted: Each Health Board to decide on hotels to be targeted. It was not considered necessary to use the number of seats available in hotels or number of the number of meals served as a cut-off point.
3. Progress made by the target groups should be monitored.
Noted: It was not decided how this should be done. It was suggested that an assessment form be completed in the 1 st week of January 2003 and then the premises be re-assessed mid-term (July 2003). Details to be agreed at the next meeting.
Agreed: Each Health Board to provide the numbers of premises to be targeted for the next meeting, 14 th November 2002 . It was also suggested that an FSAI representative be available to attend regional Health Board meetings to brief staff on the HACCP Strategy and HACCP related issues.
LO'C circulated the National Microbiological Surveillance 2002, Protocol for 4 th Quarter (NS4). There was some discussion on the document.
Noted: There is one change to the document. On the last page remove Premises Name and insert EHO Ref: No.
4. FSAI Update
• A-M K circulated a document produced by the FSAI entitled 'Selecting an External Consultant'.
Noted: The document is available in fact sheet format from the FSAI Information Centre or from the FSAI website www.fsai.ie
• LO'C advised the FSAI are currently working on a Glossary of HACCP terms and circulated a draft to the group for comment.
Agreed:
AB to send the Glossary by e-mail to members.
Members to forward comments to AB by 16 th September 2002 .
5. Health Board Update
LO'C circulated a questionnaire to the group requesting details of HACCP promotion etc that have been carried out in respective Health Boards to date.
Agreed: Each member to complete the questionnaire before the next meeting, 14 th November 2002 .
6. AOB
• There was further discussion on the NS4 Protocol.
Noted: AD suggested it would be useful if the FSAI requested information from all Health Boards regarding amount of resources they spent on the national surveys.
• Hygiene of Foodstuffs Regulations
Noted: PW advised the last meeting regarding the Hygiene of Foodstuffs Regulations was held in June 2002 and the draft was circulated. There has been no further progress made.
• Cook-Chill Guidance Note
LO'C advised draft 1 has been produced.
Agreed: GN to be circulated to all Principal EHO's for wider distribution (within Health Boards) for comment.
The date for the next meeting is 14th November 2002.
