Article 113 of Regulation (EC) No 1234/2007 permits the European Commission to establish marketing standards for products of the following sectors:
- fruit and vegetables;
- processed fruit and vegetables;
- live plants.
Where a specific marketing standard has not been published, the product must conform to the general marketing standard ( Some limited execptions). The details of the general marketing standard are set out in Part A of Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 1580/2007. However, where the holder is able to show they are in conformity with any applicable standards adopted by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the product will be considered as conforming to the general marketing standard. The holder is defined as any natural or legal person physically in possession of the products concerned.
Specific marketing standards are set out in Part B of Annex I to Regulation (EC) No 1580/2007 as regards the following products:
(b) citrus fruit,
(d) peaches and nectarines,
(g) table grapes,
Vegetables and salads
(b) curled leaved and broad-leaved endives
(c) sweet peppers,
