How to make a Protected Disclosure

In Ireland, whistleblowing is more formally known as “making a protected disclosure”.

If you become aware of poor food hygiene or food safety concerns—such as food fraud—through your work, you can report it by making a protected disclosure (whistleblowing). This applies even if you're not directly employed by the food business, but encounter these issues in the course of your work and includes contractors, trainees, volunteers, board members.

The information submitted will be treated confidentially and will not be released to the food business.

Please send your confidential message to this specific e-mail address: protecteddisclosure@fsai.ie

You can find on this webpage a guide to explain what you should do when making a protected disclosure, or whistleblowing. This is for people who work in a food business, not members of the public who want to make a complaint. (The guide is also available as a PDF document.)
