Advice Line

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI) provides an Advice Line service. This offers help and guidance on food legislation and food safety matters. The Advice Line may be contacted by email (info@fsai.ie) or by telephone (1890-336677).

Guidance

The FSAI produces guidance material to assist enforcement officers in their enforcement activities. This guidance is also designed to support food businesses in complying with relevant food legislation. It is available mostly free of charge on this website. Some of this information is available in hard copy, again mostly free of charge.

Making a complaint about a food or food establishment

A ‘Make a complaint’ form is provided on the FSAI website. This is for those consumers wanting to make a complaint about a food or food establishment. Complaints received are subsequently investigated by the relevant official agency on behalf of the FSAI.

Making a Protected Disclosure

Protected Disclosures legislation provides a statutory framework within which workers can raise concerns about any wrongdoing that has come to their attention in their workplace. They may do so in the knowledge that they can avail of significant employment and other protections in making the disclosure. For further information, please click here. See more information on Protected Disclosures.

Making a complaint about the Food Safety Authority of Ireland

If a customer is not happy with the service the FSAI provides, or the way in which a complaint has been handled, the FSAI has a complaints procedure in place for this purpose. It also has a complaints procedure for food businesses that are not satisfied with their inspector or the outcome of an inspection. For further information, please click here. See information on on making a complaint against the FSAI.
