Low levels of Listeria monocytogenes have been detected in the above batch of Burren Smokehouse Ltd smoked organic salmon.
Nature Of Danger:
A low level of the pathogen was detected in the smoked salmon; however, because Listeria monocytogenes can grow at refrigeration temperatures, there is a risk that the bacteria could grow to harmful levels. Listeriosis is a serious disease which can be life threatening, particularly for pregnant women, the elderly and other people with a weakened immune system.
No action is required by EHOs at present, however, please notify FSAI (firstname.lastname@example.org) of any concerns.
Manufacturers, wholesalers, distributors, caterers & retailers:
Food businesses are requested to remove the affected batch from sale. Retailers who have sold the batch are requested to display a point of sale recall notice informing customers not to eat the implicated batch.
Consumers who have bought the implicated batch should dispose of the product or return it to the place of purchase.
